Core thought: “If there is something far more important than love, it is respect.”
Love is a powerful feeling, but it is not enough by itself. Love can sometimes be overflowing, possessive, unstable, and selfish. Respect, however, recognizes boundaries. It means approaching the other person’s existence, space, voice, fragility, and will without violating them.
When love is damaged, the relationship is wounded. When respect is damaged, humanity itself is wounded. That is why the real quality of a relationship is not understood through words of love, but through the continuity of respect shown in action.
